Hi All, my name is Alesha and I am your new Parent Council Chair Person for the 2017/2018 school year. My husband David and I are the proud parents of 4 amazing kids, Brittany(18) who has flown the nest, Alison(17), Austin(8) and Josh(6). I currently run a before and after school day home and pick up a shift or two downtown at Dit n Dat. My husband and his younger brother attended this school when they were young, and I have been a Big Rock mom since 2006, That just seems crazy! I am honored to be your chair person this coming year because I truly love our school and everything Big Rock stands for. I look forward to an exciting year.
Vice Chair: Angie Kwade
Hello Big Rock Family, my name is Angie Kwade and I am the new Vice Chair Person for the 2017/18 school year. My family and I moved to Okotoks six years ago. When we bought our home in Sheep River, we were so happy to be walking distance to a public school. We now have two of our three children attending, Bryton is in grade 2 and Georgia in grade 1 and in a couple of years Virginia will be starting.
I have enjoyed my time volunteering for the school and getting to know many parents and faculty over the past three years and now I am excited to have the opportunity to sit as your Vice Chair. I love the small community feel of our school and look forward to making our school an important part of your children's lives.
Treasurer: Michelle Hartsburg
Hello! I am on the Parent Council this year as treasurer. Already, I’ve been super excited to see the kiddos outside exploring and learning! I love Big Rock School for their heart and adventure; I’m really looking forward to this school year. My family moved to Okotoks in 2011, we just love it here. My husband and I both grew up as farm/acreage kids and love Okotoks for its small town feel and community. We have a hilarious daughter, who is in first grade this year. She is my little nature lover - my favourite thing to do is watch her explore and learn. We also have a big ol’ loveable 9 year old dog. We are a family that is outside every chance we get, you’ll find us by the rivers or in the mountains hiking or skiing. I have my kids’ yoga certification and hand make meditation cushions. I love being able to volunteer at Big Rock School whenever I get the chance, so come say hi!

I'm excited to be a part of Big Rock school council for this coming school year. My husband Brett and I have three boys, Ki (12), Nate (9) and Bennett (6) that attend this amazing school. As a stay at home mother I have been very fortunate to have the time to volunteer often in my children's classrooms and to get to know the teachers, students and other staff members. I grew up in the small town of Coaldale, Alberta and attended a small school where everyone worked together to cultivate that small town feeling of familiarity and cooperation. I love Big Rock School because it has the same feeling and atmosphere. I'm grateful that my boys get to have the same experience as me. My husband grew up in Okotoks and we feel very fortunate to have moved back to town in 2009 after many years of school. It's hard to believe how much it has grown but we've enjoyed watching it grow and develop as a community while keeping the home town atmosphere. We love to camp and hike in the mountains as a family and we try to spend as much time as we can in Waterton. I'm looking forward to the opportunities we will have as school council to make Big Rock School even better and I'm eager to help in any way I can.
